More than 200 experts, advocates, survivors, and policymakers gathered in Melbourne on 2–3 June for Justice Denied: Fighting Widespread Impunity for Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV)—the first international conference held in Australia dedicated exclusively to CRSV and its pervasive impact in conflict and post-conflict settings.
The two-day event was hosted by the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (CEVAW), in partnership with the Australian Institute of International Affairs Victoria (AIIA-VIC). The conference was convened under the leadership of Professor Jacqui True, Director of CEVAW and a PRIO Global Fellow, whose work has long focused on gender and international relations, women, peace and security and feminist methodologies.
PRIO’s Research Director Louise Olsson contributed to discussions on bridging research, policy, and practice, highlighting the importance of survivor-centred approaches to justice and the need to address impunity through both legal and non-legal mechanisms.
