Asha Ali has joined the PRIO Centre on Gender, Peace and Security as the new Centre Coordinator.
Asha joins PRIO from the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI), where she served as an adviser in the Research Group for Peace, Conflict and Development. Her work focused on peacebuilding and peace operations, the intersection of climate change and peace and security, and multilateral cooperation, in collaboration with international partners including the United Nations and the African Union.
She holds an MSc in Social and Public Policy from Cardiff University and an LLB in Law from Queen Mary University of London. Asha also brings experience in human rights, having worked with the British Institute of Human Rights and the Norwegian Council for Africa (Fellesrådet for Afrika).
At the GPS Centre, Asha will coordinate the Centre’s internal and external activities and serve as PRIO’s point of contact for the Nordic Women Mediators Network.
She succeeds Stine Bosheim, who will soon be taking up a new position at the Centre for Strategic Courses at the Norwegian Defence University College.
