The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and PRIO are holding an expert workshop in order to discuss a draft version of a study on National Action Plans to implement UN SCR 1325 on Women, Peace and Security in the OSCE region.
The adoption of UN SCR 1325 on Women, Peace and Security in 2000 was a major breakthrough for work to include women in all matters related to peace and security. A total of seven UN Security Council Resolutions have now been adopted under the Women, Peace and Security heading. However, implementation on the ground is slow, and women continue to be marginalized in decisio-making related to peace and conflict. The adoption of National Action Plans (NAPs) has been promoted as a way to improve the situation, and in the workshop a new study on NAPs in the OSCE region will be discussed.
